2012 Oh What a Year, A Chantastic Year Indeed!

As I sit here today reflecting on one of the most intense years of my life, I can say that I have had more good days than I have had bad days! 2012 has stretched me, pulled me and molded me! All preparation for an outstanding 2013! Here are some of my favorite moments from 2012! Here’s to an awesome new year filled with more love, joy, prosperity and blessings than we could ever dream for ourselves! Cheers- Lady C

January 2012: Trip to Paris! C’est La Vie

This was a trip of a lifetime! Of course when my girl Charreah hit me on G-chat and asked me if I wanted to go to Paris, the only answer that I could come up with was “Ummmm HELLL YEAH!” This is my M.O. If there is a fly trip to be taken, my answer is always YES! I was so happy to have shared this experience with fabulous women. We were all changed by this trip and it was the perfect way to start off our year!

February 2012:  Ebony Magazine Single of the Year!

So you’re probably wondering how this happened… It was as much of a shock to me as anyone else! My roomie, who you will realize is often the beginning of all of my good stories, sent me an email that said Ebony magazine was looking for singles who were happy being single and she thought I’d be perfect. After much deliberation, I finally emailed the relationship editor of Ebony magazine and told them my story! Little did I know, my story lead to a full blown photo shoot and spread in the February 2012 Love Issue of Ebony magazine! This was totally unexpected but one of the best moments of my life!

April 2012: Love (Ink) on Top! The Re-launch of a dream!

On April 30, 2012 I re-launched my website with the help of my amazing friends Arion, my web developer and Sabine, my graphic designer. Together they made my dream come true and ever since the relaunch of my site, Love Ink has been booming! I’m proud to say that I am now officially a vow expert!

May 2012 : Who’s the Master? Columbia J- School Graduation!

So it was all a Blurr! I honestly can’t tell you how I made it working full-time and going to school part-time… So thankful for the grace of God for pulling me through! I started Columbia J-School the summer of 2009 and 2.5 years later I graduated with a Masters in Digital Media/Magazine Production! Sounds fancy huh… it is! This is one of my greatest accomplishments and I am so excited to be done! 

May 2012: Queen B at Revel in Atlantic City!

AHHHHHH!!!! Okay so just looking at this pic got me excited all over again! This story begins with another random G-chat convo between Charreah and I. It all started when we heard Beyonce was going to be performing in Atlantic City memorial day weekend… we had every intention to go, but tickets were sold out within minutes… or so we thought. We gave up hope and I decided to go to D.C. to party with my girl Fallon and other friends. As luck would have it, the day before I was set to go to D.C. Charreah hits me up to tell me that tickets are still available and before she could even finish saying “You down?” My answer was yes! This was by far the best concert experience of 2012! Beyonce killed it, resurrected it and then killed it again! Did I mention that we had SUPER BOMB SEATS! Epic weekend!

August 2012: Toronto Road Trip for CARABANA!

I usually hate any bus ride over 4 hours. However, when you add Soca music, endless rum and good vibes to a bus trip, 10 hours seems to go by way too quickly! Carabana was way beyond my expectations! This was one of the best family trips I’ve been on and I can’t wait to go back next year and wave my Trini Flag!

October 2012:  Bridal Fashion Week with NYT STYLE!

AHHHH!!!! Yes, I had to scream because this was the craziest most amazing experience of my career! If you know me, you know that I love bridal! So when I pitched covering NY Bridal Fashion Week to the NYT style section and they said YES, you know I lost it! I knew I could not take on such a huge undertaking on my own so I enlisted the assistance of my girl Fallon who helped me take on the Bridal World, one instagram photo at a time! There were so many highlights from that week but I would have to say top 3 moments include, going back stage at the Reem Acra  show, sitting front row at EVERYTHING and seeing my photos get over 1,000 likes on the NYT instagram page! PRICELESS!

Oct. 2012: Chantober 28 years in the making

My birthday has always been a big deal to me! I come from a long line of self celebrators, so every year I make sure I do it big for my birthday! Even with Sandy fast approaching, I knew I wanted to make 28 my sexiest year yet, storm or no storm!  This year I planned a super sexy Glam Vixen photo shoot with my girls and we ended the night taking over the lounge at Red Rooster like we used to do in college! It was by far one of my favorite B-day experiences! I even got my BFF Tang to teach us a sexy dance routine. I’m so happy that I have such amazing friends that celebrate with me every year! Now thinking about what I will do for 29!

November 2012: My president is still Black! Four more years!

This was definitely a 2012 Highlight because I honestly was more afraid of Obama not getting re-elected than the Zombie Apocalypse! This year’s election was so nerve racking and too close to call at times.  I am beyond elated to see my first family still in the White House moving FORWARD with making America a better place! 

December: Proud sister and New Beginnings!

If you know anything about me, then you know that I love being a big sister! I have two of the best siblings that anyone could ever ask for. Just a couple of days before Christmas my sister received her acceptance letter from my Alma Mater- HOWARD UNIVERSITY . I am so proud of my little sister, this is definitely a highlight for me because I know this is the beginning of the best days of her life!  #HUYOUKNOW

December 2012: Looking Ahead!

This year has ended with me preparing for my first ever Wedding Vow Writing Workshop in Atlanta Georgia at the BlackBride.com Wedding Showcase! I’ve always dreamed of hosting workshops and teaching couples how to share their love through writing. This is a dream come true for me and a great way to start the New Year! I am so thankful to be able to do what I love and share my gift with people in love.
